🔹 Core-Reflected S Wave Discovery
Researchers identified that a core-reflected S wave, which traveled 2,900 kilometers through the mantle to the Earth's core and back, triggered a secondary fault slip during the 2011 Tohoku earthquake. This is the first documented instance of a core-reflected wave causing a fault to move.
